Eligibility Criteria for Six Sigma Black belt program :

a) Application requirements

Should attend the 7 days Six Sigma training workshop which is spread over a period of 2 modules and actively participate during the training sessions.

b) Academic requirements
1. There will be continuous assessment tests that will be conducted for every module. 30% of the marks will be taken for the final continuous evaluation from these tests.
2. There will be a final exam held in the last module. 70% of the marks will be taken for the final evaluation for this exam.
3. Both these put together, each participant should get a minimum of 70% to clear the exam.

Each participant who has successfully met the criteria for both the academic and the application requirements will be certified as “Certified Six Sigma Green Belt “.

c) Key Organizational requirements for successful Six Sigma Implementation

1. Top Management commitment and involvement is very key for the successful completion of all the Six Sigma projects
2. Top Management should conduct reviews on the progress of the project
3. The Six Sigma Executive should select his team based on the process knowledge domain required and should conduct review with his team every 3-4 days
4. The selected participants should be released from their “daily work routine” during the period for the successful implementation of the methodology.

Key skill sets required for the Six Sigma:-

1. Six Sigma aspirant has to be from a position of “Executive” and above
2. He should be preferably heading a Institutional key operation/Manufacturing line/function/cell/Dept/process.

The following are the key skills based on which the participant should be selected and sent for the Six Sigma training program

1. Ability to think through the possible causes of a problem
2. In-depth Knowledge on the Manufacturing/Service processes
3. Analytical skills for elimination of causes
4. Strong desire to learn on a continuous basis
5. Should be a good leader who can lead the project and take it to a logical conclusion
6. Good communication skills
7. Good inter-personal skills to interact with the Process owners and other functional heads
8. Should be able to work in a very disciplined manner in the application of the various tools
9. Should lead the team in the implementation of the various solutions that will be derived during the application of tools
10. Should be open-minded and should not conclude anything based on his judgment.
